Description
The session will discuss how electrical utilities address safety and health requirement and evaluation strategies of subcontractors. Participants will gain valuable information that will help the safety prequalification process for work in the electric utility industry.

Charles Kelly
Mr. Kelly joined the Edison Electric Institute in 1989 as its Manager, Occupational Safety and Health. Since that time he has been charged with handling various other Human Resource issues and is now Director, Industry Human Resource Issues.
Mr. Kelly’s responsibilities at EEI include all regulatory and legislative activities regarding Occupational Safety & Health, Labor Relations as well as other key Human Resource initiatives. He is a member of the National Safety Council Utilities Division Executive Committee, a member of the National Safety Council Board of Delegates, Advisory Board member of the Electrical Distribution Technology Program at Blue Ridge Community & Technical College, as well as Vice Chairman, Board of Trustee’s of Apple Tree Institute for Education Innovation. He is the former Chairman of the Board of Directors for The Workplace Health & Safety Council, a Washington, D.C. based business coalition.
In 2002 Mr. Kelly received the National Safety Council’s “Distinguished Service to Safety Award”, the NSC’s highest honor given to an individual.
He earned his B.S. from West Virginia University, and an M.A. Conflict Resolution from Abilene Christian University
