Description
The safety roundtable offers participants an opportunity to become familiar with electrical industry issues that impact contractors operations. Participant will have the unique opportunity to hear NECA’s safety strategies as well as engaging in the process of the discussion.

Michael Johnston
Michael Johnston is NECA’s executive director of standards and safety. Mike holds a BS in Business Management from the University of Phoenix. He served on NEC CMP-5 in the 2002, 2005, and was the Chairman of CMP-5 representing NECA for the 2011 NEC cycle. Mike is currently the Chairman of the NEC Correlating Committee. Among his responsibilities for managing the codes, standards, and safety functions for NECA, Mike is secretary of the NECA Codes and Standards Committee. Johnston is a member of the IBEW and is an active member of ANSI, IAEI, NFPA, ASSE, the NFPA Electrical Section, the UL Electrical Council, and National Safety Council.

Palmer Hickman
Palmer Hickman is the Director of Safety and Code Training and Curriculum Development for the National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee of the Electrical Industry (NJATC). The NJATC is the training arm of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA). He represents the industry on the National Electrical Code (NEC) Correlating Committee, Code Panel 1 of the NEC®, and on the Technical Committees for NFPA 70E®, Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace, and NFPA 70B®, and NFPA 79®, Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery. In addition to his Codes and Standards involvement, he is an OSHA Construction Industry Master Instructor. He is a 34 year member of the IBEW with additional memberships including IAEI, NFPA, IEEE, NETA, and the UL Electrical Council. In addition to completion of the IBEW/NECA/NJATC apprenticeship, his educational background includes a B.A. in Labor Safety and Health.
